An additional dose is recommended for immunocompromised
Those who are eligible to receive an additional dose are:
- Individuals 12 years of age and older who received the Pfizer vaccine or 18 years of age and older who received the Moderna vaccine with moderately to severely compromised immune systems. This includes people who have:
- Been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood
- Received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
- Received a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
- Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)
- Advanced or untreated HIV infection
- Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress your immune response
An additional can be administered at least 28 days after second doses have been received. People should talk to their health care provider about their medical condition, and whether getting an additional dose is appropriate for them.
At this time, there is no recommendation for additional doses for people who received the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine.
More information is available on the CDC website.
Homebound Vaccination Services
People who are homebound can call 855-635-0235 or email homebound@snhd.org to schedule services. This includes those who need the help of another person or medical equipment such as crutches, a walker, or a wheelchair to leave their home, or their medical provider believes that their health or illness could get worse if they leave their home, and they typically do not leave their home.
American Sign Language Interpretation Services
If you will need sign language interpretation when you receive your vaccine, please schedule your shot at the Health District’s 280 S. Decatur Blvd. location and email covidvaccine-appointments@snhd.org at least three business days before your appointment.
Vaccination Records and Replacement Cards
When you receive your first dose, details of your vaccination will be written on a small vaccination record card. Please keep this card and bring it to your second dose appointment (if applicable). We recommend saving a photo of the card in your phone and keeping the card in a safe space between appointments. We do not recommend laminating the card.
If you lost your vaccination card and need the information for work, travel, or personal interest, you can obtain a copy of your immunization records online from the Nevada WebIZ Public Access Portal. Answer a few quick questions and immediately download your record. If additional assistance is needed, call 1-800-401-0946. To receive a duplicate of the original vaccination card, please visit one of the Southern Nevada Health District COVID-19 vaccination clinics.
Long-Term Care Facility Vaccinations
Long-term care facility vaccinations are being coordinated through the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy. Inquiries should be directed to NVcare@health.nv.gov.
